Vinyl gloves latex8/1/2023 Meanwhile, the mechanical strength of vinyl gloves compared to latex gloves is much lower.īecause vinyl molecules don’t stick well together They are considered the most elastic type of gloves. Latex Gloves… Which is more comfortable?Įlasticity is the ability of the gloves to return to their original shape after being pulled and stretched.Īs close as human skin, latex gloves have an extraordinary ability to stretch. To summarize, natural rubber latex gloves come from rubber trees, while synthetic rubber vinyl gloves are made from PVC polymer s.Įach goes through chemical and mechanical processes, from raw materials to disposable gloves we know to have the properties we will discuss next. Polyvinyl chloride is the world’s third-most widely produced synthetic polymer of plastic after polyethylene and polypropylene. These plasticizers make the PVC softer, pliable, and moldable enough to be transformed into gloves. However, it can be turned into a flexible material by adding plasticizers called phthalates. PVC is usually rigid and used in pipes, plastic bottles, etc. PVC is a petroleum-based polymer synthetically made by merging monomers of ethylene and chloride in a series of chemical processes. Therefore, vinyl gloves are most often referred to as PVC gloves. Vinyl gloves are made from a raw synthetic material called polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Now let’s see the synthetic rubber vinyl gloves and what they are made of. To illustrate, Latex is also called natural rubber latex as it comes from the rubber tree and is sometimes called caoutchouc.Īlthough people might use the terms alternatively, they are different rubber is an elastic material made either naturally from Latex or synthetically from petrochemical materials such as PVC and neoprene. When a plant is injured, it secretes Latex to seal the tear and prevent further damage, like human blood clots. It is a milky white complex emulsion of proteins, sugars, oils, alkaloids, tannins, gums, and starches that coagulates when air exposure. Plants typically produce Latex as a defense against insects and injuries. It’s the most common latex source, yet you can find Latex in almost 10% of flowering plants. This tree originally came from Brazil but is now mainly cultivated in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and other southeast Asian countries as well as Africa. It’s a natural material (a protein) that comes from the rubber tree sap (also called Hevea brasiliensis). Similarly, it has been a rockstar for many years. Latex is the first known material to be used in gloves. Let’s compare the material of vinyl and latex gloves Each disposable glove is made from a different material.ĭifferent materials contribute primarily to the properties of the gloves. ![]() Many gloves might look similar, but they are not. Wurm unlimited map heavennorde8/1/2023 ![]() He even implied that the official Wurm Online servers may shut down one day. I expect Wurm Unlimited to receive less and less support, perhaps Rolf will intentionally pull the plug on it when Wurm Online's population gets low enough. However this plan has backfired horribly as many established Wurm players quit the game to play Wurm Unlimited, which they will not have to pay a subscription for. Last year it was Challenge, before that it was Xanadu, this year it is Wurm Unlimited. That is why every year CodeClub tries some sort of gimmick to get more players in the game. Traders get silver from new players, so when new players are not joining Wurm Online that means the established players might have to dip into their own pockets to pay for premium. Wurm Online can best be described as a pyramid scheme with Rolf on top and then a hierarchy of established players who drain traders in order to pay for their premium. All of this game's positive reviews here and on Steam will come from Wurm Online fanboys who have a vested interest in protecting Wurm's reputation due to the hundreds and thousands of dollars they have spent on the MMO counterpart to Wurm Unlimited. I mainly play on a PvP server (Defiance MR) in Wurm Online and can only recommend this game. Of course there is always a risk, but you don't have to worry about getting killed all the time, especially if you join a community. Of course, this sounds like a peaceful life is not possible on a pvp server. Cities and fortresses (did I mention that everything is built by the players?) can be raided, but with a good defence you can also fend off such a raid. That doesn't even touch the Adventure mode, which allows a player who has never played Wurm get a real feel for some of the aspects that even MMO players never really experience. There's a Linux-based dedicated server for cheap, cost-effective hosting. Each "server" is in it's own folder, so I can easily make copies, zip up the good ones and store them for later, or switch between if I goof up too badly. The game is rather easy to launch and manage. The community has already created some wonderful tools that allow you to make custom maps, and the modding community is just getting started. Not only can I use a GM-level character to build anything I desire, but I can run a server and share it with my friends. Wurm Unlimited has changed that for me, and yet still offers so much more. This third party is often the vendor providing timekeeping service, who utilizes the information obtained by the device to verify the identity of the individual employee. Third, biometric timekeeping systems often transfer information captured by the particular timekeeping device to a third party. Second, many biometric timekeeping systems utilize fingerprinting software or facial recognition software (which may qualify as a photograph for purposes of Labor Code §1051). In other words, employers may terminate employees who refuse to use them. The plain language of Labor Code §1051 indicates that it is troublesome for employers who utilize biometric timekeeping systems.įirst, most employers who utilize biometric timekeeping systems require employees to use the systems as a condition of retaining employment. In short, this provision means that an employer “cannot require applicants or employees to provide fingerprints or photographs as a condition of employment if they will be provided to a third party and used to the applicant’s or employee’s detriment.” As emphasized above, violation of Labor Code §1051 subjects an employer and/or its agent to criminal liability! Labor Code §1051 provides in relevant part: However, employers should nonetheless know of §1051 and its relationship to biometric timekeeping systems to ensure compliance with the law. Labor Code §1051 is an obscure Labor Code provision unknown to many employers. Below, we highlight two major concerns implicated by employers’ use of biometric timekeeping systems: Labor Code §1051 and California’s newly enacted Consumer Privacy Act. However, as always, California employers need to consider the variety of legal issues presented by this new technology and take actions that are consistent with existing laws. Unquestionably, biometric timekeeping systems can modernize the workplace and improve an employer’s payroll practices at relatively affordable prices. In short, the newest technological innovations that would impress George Jetson are now commonly available and utilized by employers in a variety of workplaces, ranging from advanced clinical labs to warehouses. For example, some systems use facial scanning software, others scan employees’ eyes, while other biometric timekeeping systems utilize palm-scanning or fingerprint technology. These new and improved time-keeping systems help to improve the accuracy of an employer’s time-keeping system, alleviate security concerns, and improve the efficiency of an employer’s payroll system as a whole.īiometric time-keeping systems utilize some of the latest technology to record employees’ clock-in and clock-out times. Employers are replacing pen and paper time-sheets or standard “punch” time-clocks with modern, biometric timekeeping systems as a means of combatting the age-old problem of time-clock fraud. Employers across California, and the nation for that matter, are taking steps to modernize time-clocks utilized in the workplace. Hammerspoon vim7/31/2023 ![]() Once you have these tools installed and running, the first thing we want to do is add some file watchers for both Karabiner and Hammerspoon. The second "primary tool" we need is Hammerspoon, a Mac automation tool we'll use alongside Karabiner-Elements. Note: Karabiner supports multiple profiles, but as mentioned in the docs, Goku requires a Default profile in order to generate a Karabiner config so we will need to make sure this profile is present. Goku is an abstraction layer that allows you to define your Karabiner configuration in a much more human-friendly format. Once Karabiner is installed, we’re going to install Goku, the "companion tool" I mentioned previously. Karabiner is a fast, customizable tool that allows us us to remap the keys on a Mac at the kernel level. The first tool we'll install is Karabiner-Elements. There are two primary tools, plus a third companion tool, that we will install in order to map our Cmd+P combo to Cmd+K within Slack–and while we're at it, we'll be providing a foundation to build an entire system of custom keyboard shortcut mappings for any app. Let's take a look at how we can accomplish this. So I just need a way of converting the Cmd+P combo I have already memorized into the Cmd+K combo Slack expects. However, until a recent update, Slack’s quick open palette, triggered with Cmd+K, had no way to override it in a setting or menu.Īs described above, the ideal scenario would be one where I could always use the same keyboard shortcuts to do the same things in all of my apps. Over time, I've noticed other apps also offer similar quick open palettes. ![]() With this palette, I can trigger this shortcut and just type the name (or partial name) of something I want to open without needing to navigate the interface. Command+P EverywhereĪs a long time Sublime Text user, I couldn't imagine life without ST's Quick Open Palette, which is triggered with Cmd+P. We are going to learn how to train our keyboards to map the key combos you want to use to the key combos the apps on your computer expects. And some apps provide keyboard shortcuts without offering any way to override them, or worse, don't even offer keyboard shortcuts at all. Many other apps expose shortcuts through menus that can be overridden at the system level, but this gets tedious if you you have more than a few shortcuts you want to override. The apps that are easiest to customize explicitly allow users to declare keyboard shortcuts in the settings. It may require extra research to apply these principles to non-Mac computers. Tools do exist to accomplish the same results on other operating systems. Note for Windows and Linux users: While the principles outlined here are universal, the tools are Mac only. We'll start by learning how to install and configure the required apps, then, later on, I'll introduce the system of keyboard shortcut organization I use every day. We are going to walk through creating a system to bring uniformity to our apps with a single set of keyboard shortcuts. What if you could eliminate that switching cost? What if switching apps, rather than forcing you to learn new shortcuts, instead reinforced your muscle memory for the shortcuts you already know? In short, what if all of your apps felt the same? So, what happens when you try out a new app, and its keyboard shortcuts don’t align with your muscle memory? You could work on memorizing a whole new set of shortcuts, but then you face a cost of switching every time you change apps. You've likely memorized many of the shortcuts of your most used apps and, somewhere during this process, repetition has given way to muscle memory, making these shortcuts feel like second nature. ![]() But you're probably also aware that most of the apps you use on a daily basis provide keyboard shortcuts to increase the efficiency of routine tasks. You likely use a combination of your mouse and keyboard to interact with your computer throughout the day. If you’re reading this, odds are you work on a computer. More recently, the two companies held a joint event detailing how Slack’s functionality will coexist with Salesforce. Roughly seven months later, the acquisition is complete, and the future landscape is more evident. ![]() At the time, few details were released regarding how the two companies would operate or the potential impacts of the merger. I take a discount to all of these figures to arrive at my 15% premium price target, which I believe can be realized by the end of the year.In December 2020, Salesforce announced the multibillion-dollar acquisition of Slack. Just looking at the cohort that trades at 25%-35% NTM revenue growth, the peer group implies a 20%+ premium. If we take an average of all enterprise SaaS names and apply that to slack, it implies a healthy 50% premium. When comparing Slack to peers on a revenue growth basis, we can see that it trades a discount on a growth adjusted EV/NTM basis. I do not see Salesforce bidding less than $20 billion for the asset, and I also believe there is strategic reasons for it to have been a competitive bidding process. I could see a $30 billion acquisition price (implying a 30%+ premium to its closing price on Friday) or a more conservative $25 billion price (implying 15% upside). When looking at the price tag, I believe Slack is trading at a healthy 15% discount to its value. Although Slack would be the largest to date, I believe it makes strategic sense and Salesforce is getting a premium asset at a discount. Despite these stock performance struggles, the business has performed generally pretty well with 35%+ YoY revenue growth and decent unit economics. Slack has been trailing in the public markets for some time and is still trading below IPO prices. I recommend playing the spread with the stock or short-dated calls. I believe a 15% haircut is baked into the deal not closing, and there is ample reason to believe that the deal will close. On the news, Slack soared 30% and is trading around $22 billion valuation. Rumors swirled that Salesforce ( CRM) is looking to buy Slack ( NYSE: WORK), and the deal can be announced as early as next week. Royal blood lights out review7/31/2023 ![]() Remaining in the dingy depths of Kerr’s romance-filled issues, ‘She’s Creeping’ details Kerr’s obsessive infatuated state further. Amongst singles such as ‘Lights Out’, ‘I Only Lie When I Love You’, ‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ and ‘Hole In Your Heart’, closer and deep cut ‘Sleep’ sees Royal Blood climax with a four-minute slow burning belter that swaggers with pure loud confidence and lyrics that let the love jealous mind wander to dark thoughts as a result of a troubled relationship, one that is hitting the rocks hard: “I just can’t help myself/Thinking you’re with someone else/Sick to the bone/I don’t wanna sleep” sings Kerr in its killer chorus. Royal Blood’s sophomore album ‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ is a ten track album full of monstrous riffs and bombastic drums that maintain the intensity of the debut but maybe lacked a little creative difference. Mike Kerr’s simply sublime vocals that croon ‘Cruel’ throughout its chorus and Ben Thatcher’s crashing percussion that clammer in coalition with Kerr’s circling riff to create a super cool Queens Of The Stone Age inspired tune.įollowing up on a colossal first album didn't prove to be a hard task for this rock duo. The warming up and tuning of the bass guitar starts the song, before the colossal combination of Mike’s bass guitar and Ben’s drums burst into the song like a bulldozer out for full destruction. One final B-Side for the road, and on the flip side to the brutal whirs of ‘Ten Tonne Skeleton’, ‘One Trick Pony’ is anything but a one trick kind of tune. A B-Side not to be skipped in the slightest. ‘Hole’, however, turbo blasts the early bluesy rock sound the band went for, with huge volumes and sublime vocals making massive waves throughout the ear deafening track. Perhaps the best B-Side in Royal Blood’s string of the single offcuts, ‘Hole’ features on the flip-side to 2014’s ‘Little Monster’, a gargantuan-sized song that broke the band out across Europe and the rest of the world. Serving as the B-Side to the bands smash hit ‘Figure It Out’, ‘Love and Leave It Alone’ is a supercharged slice of hard rock. Mike Kerr’s recognisable heavy sounding bass riffs and Ben Thatcher’s booming drum beats make for a massively memorable jam, with an equal mass appeal to rival that of its A-Side counterpart ‘Out Of The Black’.
